As we enter day two of our week-long fast, let's read another aspect of prayer Jesus raised in the Sermon on the Mount: 7“Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. 8For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. 9“You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? 10Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! 11So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. Matthew 7:7-11 NLT Jesus tells us to keep on asking, seeking and knocking, and we will receive, have doors opened and find! What a promise. All week long in those times when you would ordinarily be eating keep asking, seeking and knocking in Jesus' name. Ask for God to pour out His Spirit in our lives that we may be used to bring healing and salvation in Jesus' name to those around us who need them! Seek God's provision for the financial resources necessary to move forward with the construction of Phase 1 of His Mission Outpost at 127 Knoch Road, so our influence may be multiplied for Him! Knock for God to open the doors for reaching our lost friends, family members, neighbors and all He puts in our path with the Good News of Jesus in unprecedented numbers throughout the Easter season! Jesus tells us that WE who are sinful know how to give good gifts to our children, so how much more will our Heavenly Father give good gifts to us as we ask Him. REMEMBER: God is the same here and now as He has always been. God desires to do more in our lives than we can even ask or imagine (but that's the Scripture for tomorrow!) Right now, let's simply focus on Jesus' words about prayer--and ask, seek and knock that He may be glorified in our lives and that His glory may be extended through us in our community, region, nation and world.A quick question for any who are fasting and reading these entries: Is God saying or doing anything in your life as you've started this fast? If so, why not comment on the blog, or if it's too personal, e-mail me at chris@newlifexn.org? God's blessings as you seek Him today, and throughout this week! |
