Memorial Day weekend has arrived already! I've heard of a half dozen individuals and families who will be enjoying the weekend camping. So here's the weekly question for Saturday: How are you going to prepare for worship and how are you going to worship in the midst of the holiday celebration? As you know, I've devoted my Saturday posts to challenging us to prepare ourselves for corporate worship. I hope you'll be worshiping with us at one of our two services at New Life tomorrow (8:45 & 10:15 a.m.) as we'll be focusing on the sixth "deadly" sin--anger or wrath. (This is the sin that God as done the most to overcome in my life, and I'm looking forward to telling you about it, because as I've talked with men, I've found that it's an extremely common challenge for us, in particular.) If you're going to be with us, take some time today to pray and reflect on whether anger is a major challenge for you, or whether God has worked through it in your life. If you're not going to be with us tomorrow, where will you worship? Have you scoped out a church to attend? Are you going to put together a family worship service? That can be a great opportunity. Remember: worship isn't something that's one option among many things we have to do this weekend. It's the central component of a growing Christian life! Let's pray: Heavenly Father, Thank You for being worthy of our worship and praise! As we remember those who have given the ultimate gift to preserve our freedom this weekend, we give You praise for sending Jesus to give us the ultimate gift in all of human history--the gift of salvation from sin and death, and for eternal life! This we pray in Jesus' name. Amen. |
