Every American knows the blank in today's title is filled with "God."  In God we trust.  Really?  Do we trust in God for all the situations we go through in life as individuals, families, congregations, and nations?  As we move to the next two verses in this week's Scripture we see that even 3,000 years ago it was necessary to remind folks that God is the only true source of trust and security in life:  ¹⁶No king is saved by the size of his army;  no warrior escapes by his great strength.  ¹⁷A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;  despite all its great strength it cannot save.  

In King David's day, kings DID trust in their armies.  Warriors DID trust in their great strength and the strength of their horses for deliverance.  But David aptly reminded his readers that those sources of faith and security are vain hopes.  Only God is worthy of our trust.  Take a moment and ask yourself, "In whom or what do I trust, when everything is on the line?"  What about when not that much is on the line?  God IS the one in whom we trust.  He alone is mighty to save!  Let's live this day with all our trust in Him.

Let's pray:  Heavenly Father, Thank You for being the only one worthy of our trust.  Fill us with Your Holy Spirit and empower us to trust fully in You.  This we pray in Jesus' name.  Amen.
