Yesterday was another amazing day!  God was glorified in our worship and praise, and He lifted us up through the words of Scripture we read together.  As we spoke of helping each other grow in the face of tragedy by affirming each other's worth, so many of the students' comments from Friday's service for Alex came to mind.  Alex Summers truly understood affirming other peoples' worth--all other people.  As I said to Alex everybody was somebody.  We talked about four ways we affirm each other's worth yesterday.  I'm going to list them along with their supporting Scriptures for those who may not have been with us, and just as a reminder for those of us who word, so we can apply them as we move forward.

We affirm each other's worth with ACCEPTANCE:  "Accept one another, just as Christ accepted you." Romans 15:7 (NIV)  We affirm each other's worth with ATTENTION: "Give special attention to those who are in the family of believers."  Galatians 6:10 (NCV)  We affirm each other's worth with AFFECTION:  "Love one another with brotherly affection as members of one family..." Romans 12:10 (Amp)  Remember to hug somebody today! We affirm each other's worth with APPRECIATION:  Brothers and sisters...appreciate those who work hard among you, who lead you in the Lord and teach you."  1 Thessalonians 5:12 (NCV)  As we live out those affirmations of one another's worth we show others the love and power of Jesus, something Alex always did so well.

Let's pray:  Heavenly Father, thank You for affirming our worth by treating each of us as somebody special!  Fill us with Your Holy Spirit that we may show that same affirmation to everyone we meet today.  Let us be lights of Jesus in the world.  This we pray in His name.  Amen.
