Dale Milligan used to say, "To love God is to trust Him enough to obey Him."  Mary showed her love for God by responding to the seemingly impossible message from the angel Gabriel with simple obedience:  ³⁸Mary responded, “I am the Lord’s servant. May everything you have said about me come true.” And then the angel left her.   While none of us will ever be presented with something as amazing as Mary, each act of simple obedience is a statement of love to God.  When we trust God enough to obey Him, even when what He asks of us seems to be ridiculous, or impossible, we demonstrate both love and faith.  As we demonstrate love and faith in God, others around us see it, and sometimes they are moved to love and trust God, too.

As you go about the day, take time to listen for God's commands, whether it's in the words of Scripture, or in the circumstances you experience or the people you encounter.  When an opportunity to obey God comes, obey Him!  Jesus reminded us in John 13, that when we know His commands, we are blessed when we do (read: OBEY) them.  The blessings of God come to those who trust Him and obey His commands!

Let's pray:  Heavenly Father, Thank You that You, and You alone, are worthy of our love and obedience!  Fill us with Your Holy Spirit that all we are and all we do may glorify You. This we pray in Jesus' name.  Amen.
